Chav at First Sight by Thomas Goddard

Nice conceptual work with a social basis here by Welsh artist Thomas Goddard. I like.

Jeremyville ‘Live Free Range Instead’. A three colour Risograph print. Nice use of the teal’s halftones for shadowing. (P.S. Our pressure roller is on it’s way, so a working press is soon on hand)

Here’s a great use of gradient tests that Hato Press used to show the potentials in colour combination on their Risograph. Here the pages have been used to decorate their local stationers’ windows during a cold winter. This was done as part of a great little event called Happen Projects. A great re-use of a tool that is very useful in itself for showing off the Risograph’s potential.

    The Ditto project is over.

I had to design “a new publication that shows off the capabilities of our printer in an innovative and interesting way. The final product will need to reflect our aesthetic and make full use of our machines potential.”

Ditto is a print publishing company, specialised  in Risograph printing.

The brief was quite challenging, as we didn’t have the chance to play with the printer and explore its capacities.

The main areas to consider were:
    -ink vs paper
    -legibility
    -photo rasterisation effects
    -gradients

I decided to explore Moiré effects and I then started generating some patterns and images.

The idea is to challenge the printer with a very intricate pattern and generate an interesting result.
Those images are the first drafts I’ve created.
